FAQ for parents
How KidSitter checks every sitter, what membership includes, and how messaging, booking and reviews work.
What is KidSitter?
KidSitter is a self-serve London-based childcare platform where parents can find childcare professionals, including babysitters, nannies, childminders and other types of childcare. Parents can search, browse, filter, favourite and message child carers, as well as post jobs and receive responses from interested sitters. Every sitter on KidSitter is DBS checked, ID and address checked, with all references verified.
What makes KidSitter different?
The KidSitter difference comes down to four things. One low membership fee, cancellable any time. Every sitter is a vetted childcare professional, with DBS, ID, address and references checked before they go live. Sitters are paid 100% of what they earn, so we never take commission. And there are no booking fees whatsoever, so the price you agree with your sitter is the price you pay.
Is KidSitter free to use?
Certain parts of KidSitter are free including search, filter, browse, favourite and even post a job. However, to contact or book sitters, you need to pay for membership.
How much does KidSitter membership cost?
KidSitter membership plans start from £10 per month and you can sign up to monthy, quarterly or annual membership. Membership unlocks direct messaging with sitters, booking requests and replies to sitters who show interest in your job. There are no booking fees and no commission, so your sitter keeps 100% of their rate.
How do I cancel my membership?
Go to My Account, then Membership, and choose cancel. Your membership stays active until the end of the period you have already paid for, and it will not renew after that. You keep full access until that date.
How are sitters checked on KidSitter?
Before a sitter profile goes live, our team reviews their DBS certificate, photo ID and proof of address, oin addition to verifying any references they provide.
Who is KidSitter for?
KidSitter is perfect for those who are looking for a full-time or part-time nanny, a regular or occasional babysitter, after-school pickups or any other form of short-term or long-term childcare from a professional. Every child carer on the KidSitter platform has a track record of providing childcare professionally.
Who do I pay for the childcare?
You pay your sitter directly at the rate you agree together. KidSitter is an introduction service, so we take no commission and handle no payments between you and your sitter.
What does a babysitter or nanny cost in London?
Rates vary by borough and by type of care, and typically run higher in central London than in outer boroughs. Our childcare costs section publishes current rate ranges by borough, by postcode area and by role, including babysitter, nanny, childminder, au pair, maternity nurse and after school care.
Can I post a job instead of searching?
Yes, and posting a job is free. Describe what you need and we notify matching sitters near your postcode. Sitters can register their interest, and you can reply to them once you have a membership.
How do reviews work?
After a booking has taken place, we ask the parent to confirm it happened and to leave a rating and review. Reviews are moderated by our team before they appear on the sitter's public profile, and only parents who booked through KidSitter can leave one.
Which areas does KidSitter cover?
KidSitter is launching in London and covers all London boroughs. You can also search by postcode or post town anywhere in the UK, and any available sitters near you will appear in the results.
How do you keep my personal information safe?
Your contact details are never shown on the site. Conversations stay inside KidSitter, messages are screened for scams and off platform contact requests, and your address is only shared with a sitter once you choose to share it.
